| The City Of Angola Fire Department is located in the center of Steuben County in the far northeast section of Indiana. The corporation trustees of Angola established the Angola Fire Department in 1873. The Angola Fire Department provides fire and rescue services covering 100 square miles in Steuben County, protecting areas made up of residential, heavy industrial, light industrial, and agricultural areas.
The department operates out of one central fire station, which is staffed by twelve career firefighters and twenty-nine paid on call firefighters, who perform tasks such as fire suppression and variou other emergencies including but not limited to medic assist calls, vehicle extrications, water rescues, gas and electrical emergencies, carbon monoxide monitoring, natural disasters, and mutual aid responses for surrounding departments. Other duties performed include fire prevention and inspections, fire investigations, fire and medical training, apparatus and building maintenance, public safety, and smoke detector programs.
Angola Firefighters are offered training weekly on Monday evening to keep up on their in-service hours for firefighting and medical certifications.
Areas protected by the City Of Angola Fire Department include The City Of Angola, Pleasent Township, Jamestown Township, Scott Township, and York Township.
The Angola Fire Department responds to approximately 1,100 incidents annually and strives to protect our community and make it as safe as we can. |
