Civil War Days in Commons Park

Our newest event, started last year with the Battle of Shiloh, will host the Battle of Champion's Hill in September. This historic re-enactment will take place in the rolling hills of Commons Park natural area and at Selman Timber Frame. Join us September 26 – 28 and visit the historical Confederate and Union camps of 1863, experience the era with butter making, blacksmithing, historical characters and more. Join the fun by participating in the period style show or dance!

City-wide bike/hike trail

This long awaited project will become reality this year with construction planned for summer. In 2002 the City was awarded a grant for $1,000,000 toward this project and many City residents have donated the use of their right of way and property to make this project happen. Completion of this trail and the County's portion (in the planning stage) will enable you to walk or bike all the way to Pokagon State Park . Benches and resting areas are in the long-term plan and if you'd like to donate funds towards benches or the trail construction, please give us a call.
